Valentine Choices
February 2012

Red Flower

“Will you be my Valentine?” was repeated on every Valentine card. So many Valentine choices!

My grade school class made a “post office”from a big box and everyone was expected to give Valentines toeveryone else.

As we mature, not everyone wants to be our Valentine, nor do we want them to. Valentine choices must be made.

The pressures on Valentine’s Day come from advertisers, florists, and your loved ones. Some years my husband and I make a big deal out of the day, and other years not so much. We love each other the same, but some years we have other important days to think about.

Too many choices makes it harder to choose. Current diet thought is to have fewer choices for meals. Understanding this makes it easier to have one or two breakfast and lunch ideas and leave it at that. Dinner is my creative time. Behind my desk at work, eating the same lunch everyday isn’t a problem.

"Life is the sum of all your choices. Albert Camus"

Confusion can overtake you when reading the MANY nutrition, diet, healthy eating gurus. There is no one prefect, one size fits all meal plan. Choices abound!

My plan to make healthy eating choices easy:

  • Eat more fruits and vegetables in different colors
  • Eat real food
  • Eat smaller portions
  • Eat slower, mindfully, and enjoy the company
  • Notice that my choice is to be positive. The list could have been don’t eat this, and don’t eat that, and never buy this or that.

My choice is to love myself into well being:

"You can't punish yourself into change. You can't whipyourself into shape. But you can love yourself into well-being.

    " Susan Syke

Here’s to a wonderful Valentine’s Day. My husband, my ValentineChoice, and I are having one of those big Valentine Day’s this year.
