Raw Food Diet

A raw food diet may be difficult to maintain, but, the ideas behind raw food are important. Choosing raw food as often as possible still has benefits for the vegetarian and non-vegetarian.

For me, there is a gap between good intentions and day to day realities. Few peiple can stay 100% raw, but 50% is still effective.

Eat local, buy from Farmers Markets, or grow your own. Nearby and unprocessed is better than distant and processed.

My thesaurus for RAW shows:

  • Unprocessed

  • Basic

  • Natural

  • Clean

  • Pure

  • Wholesome

Don't put a label on what you eat, try different diets. Try something new!

What To Eat?

So, what do you eat? Eat seasonally and get the max nutrition by relying on mother nature.

  • 1) raw and dried fruit and vegetables- try juicing

  • 2) nuts and seeds- seeds are gentlier on your body than nuts

  • 3) avocadoes, olives, sprouted grains

  • 4) oils - olive, coconut, flax, hemp

  • 5) spirulina

  • 6) nut and seed butters

  • 7) vanilla, vinegar and liquid aminos (Braggs)

  • Raw foodism can include any diet of primarily unheated food, or food cooked to a temperature less than 40 °C (104 °F) to 46 °C (115 °F).

  • Girl Eating Peach

Vitamins (especially B&C) are easily destroyed by cooking and are stored just below the skin- so don't peel your fruits & veggies. Buy organic, but always give it a warm water wash before eating.

Raw food detox diets or cleanses are becoming more popular. After 3-21 days on a raw food diet, you may continue a raw food diet, return to their regular diet, or try to improve their daily diet by consuming more raw foods.

I fall into the 3rd category. Salads, salads, and more salads. That may sound boring- but- have you ever tried all the possible combinations?
