Moderation: the process of elminiating or lessoning extremes.

Moderation sounds easy, but look around you. It seems that the whole world is living on the edges and not the middle.

Americans are getting fatter because we eat too much. "You can't have too much of a good thing!"

Moderation was a principle of life in ancient Greece. Democracy was born in Greece. If everyone keeps only extreme beliefs, a Democracy can't work without compromise. The Temple of Apollo at Delphi is inscribed with "Nothing in Excess"

Moderation is a key part of ones personal development in Taoist philosphy and religion.

Stephen Mitchell translates Tao Te Ching

"Fill your bowl to the brim and it will spill. Keep sharpening your knife and it will blunt. Chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench. Care about people's approval and you will be their prisoner. Do you work, then step back. The only path to serenity."
